Data Management
Demonstrated Results
- Our team members led the design, development and deployment of the first ICE Integrated Decision Support (IIDS) system. This effort included stand-up, configuration and maintenance of the entire data warehouse environment, including the IIDS applications, at the DHS data center. In conjunction with this project, our team received ICE and DRO management recognition for outstanding performance.

- Five 9 Group team members led the effort to consolidate several ICE, US-VISIT, and USCIS Enterprise application databases from multiple locations and formats into an Oracle / AIX IBM P-series environment.
Services and Experience
Our Database (DBA’s) and System (SA’s) Administrators deliver secure, reliable and responsive application hosting services, application database performance and value for our customers.
Our database management experts implement and maintain very large On Line Transaction (OLTP) and Analytical (OLAP) Processing databases, from 100 GB to 120 TB, in 24 x 7 environments. We have extensive experience with WebSphere MQ for messaging between heterogeneous platforms, and provide the operational environment to support mission critical systems for ICE, USCIS and US-VISIT.
Five 9 Group team members are highly skilled and experienced with the following Database Management Systems (DBMS’s); Oracle, IDMS, and SQL Server
Our database management solutions team supports over 180 Oracle databases on multiple platforms. We have designed, implemented and/or managed all databases on a variety of platforms:
- IBM, including Advanced Interactive eXecutive (AIX), General Parallel File System (GPFS), and High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing (HACMP)
- Solaris
- Linux
- Windows
Our database management staff is trained in IBM’s high-end storage, and mid-level storage from IBM, EMC, Hitachi and NetApps. We will design the optimum storage solution to meet your needs. We aim to ensure your recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO), with zero tolerance for downtime and data loss.
We use database management tools such as Tivoli Storage Manager, Legato Networker and Symantec NetBackup to provide data management for retrieval, disaster recovery and regular operating system backups; including both LAN and LAN-Free environments.
Integrated Database Management System (IDMS)
Demonstrated Results
- Five 9 Group team members have performed numerous installations and upgrades of CA-IDMS, provided printing and report archival and distribution services, and installed and deployed release 3.2 of CICS.
- Five 9 Group’s IDMS DBA assumed sole responsibility of the ROPES, CICS and VTAM Printer Support System (VPS) systems for ICE and USCIS, following the retirement of a client manager.

Five 9 Group mainframe specialists provide skilled IDMS database administration with significant experience with CA-IDMS and Customer Information Control System/Remote Online Print Executive System (CICS/ROPES). Our IDMS staff has supported the USCIS and ICE environments for over nineteen years, acquiring the business knowledge to support their current and future needs.
Our ability to manage, monitor and support mainframe CA-IDMS databases, assure their accessibility, security and dependability. We:

- address data sharing issues involving TCP/IP and web based IDMS interfaces

Maintaining High Levels of System Availability
Demonstrated Results
- Five 9 Group led the planning and execution of the US-Visit Database Server Technical Refresh effort. In order to ensure high system availability, Five 9 Group designed, configured and deployed a new enterprise cluster environment, migrating over 100TB of US-Visit and ADIS production, test, development, and training databases from the five-year old, resource-constrained hosts to new P595/P6 servers with upgraded SAN, new storage, and upgraded backup capabilities
- Five 9 Group has deployed multiple database and OS upgrades, patches and fixes across ICE, USCIS and US-Visit application databases and servers, maintaining both open systems and mainframe environments. This work ensured system reliability and minimized unintended down time.

We provide highly available, high performance, large scale environments utilizing Oracle’s Real Application Cluster (RAC), Oracle’s Cluster Ready Services (CRS), IBM’s HACMP, Symantec’s Storage Foundation for Oracle Real Application Cluster (SFRAC).
Our experience includes working with: IBM’s GPFS (General Parallel File System), PowerHA (through Highly Available Virtual I/O) and Oracle’s Data Guard. We have implemented Storage Area Network (SAN)-based replication on vendor software using Hitachi, EMC and NetApps.
We have designed and implemented server Virtualizing Input/Output (VIO) on IBM Power PC servers with Power5 and Power6 processors, and on x86 platforms using VMware. These leading edge solutions provide our customers with a superior ROI on their hardware investments.
